It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
