Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
